Dashboard

Welcome to the IBM ICE Day 2025 Dashboard Presentation. Test your dashboard and reporting skills in this exciting team-based challenge.

Event Overview

Objective: Build an interactive data dashboard that effectively visualizes insights from a given dataset.
Duration: 2 Hours
Challenges: 3 (Each challenge has 3 sub-tasks)

General Rules & Guidelines

1. Team Composition

  • Teams must have 3-5 members incluing the Team Leader.
  • Teams must work collaboratively to design, develop, and present their dashboard.

2. Challenge Structure

  • The Dashboard Presentation consists of 3 main challenges, each with 3 sub-tasks.
  • Teams must complete sub-tasks in sequence to go to the next challenge.
  • A dataset will be provided at the start of the event.

3. Scoring System

  • Each sub-task has different difficulty levels:
    • Basic Visualization: 50 Points
    • Advanced Analysis: 100 Points
    • Interactive Insights & Storytelling: 150 Points
  • The total score is calculated based on functionality, clarity, and creativity.

4. Allowed Tools & Resources

Teams can use IBM Cognos Analytics, Tableau, Power BI, Google Data Studio, Python (Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly), or Excel dashboards.
Internet usage is allowed only for research purposes (documentation, API references, etc.).
Use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Perplexity, etc.) is not permitted for direct dashboard generation.

5. Prohibited Activities

No external pre-built dashboard templates allowed.
No dataset modifications or falsification of data insights.
Any unethical behavior or rule violation may lead to disqualification.

Challenge Breakdown

Challenge Category
Task Level
Description & Requirements
Data Preparation & Basic VisualizationBasic (50pts)Clean and preprocess the provided dataset for accurate analysis
Intermediate (75pts)Create at least 3 different visualizations (bar charts, line graphs, pie charts, etc.)
Advanced (100pts)Ensure proper labeling, formatting, and readability of charts
Advanced Data Analysis & InsightsBasic (75pts)Implement data filtering and dynamic visualizations
Intermediate (100pts)Apply statistical or trend analysis to derive insights
Advanced (125pts)Use calculated fields or custom metrics to enhance data understanding
Interactive Dashboard & StorytellingBasic (100pts)Build an interactive dashboard with a logical flow of insights
Intermediate (125pts)Present a concise, data-driven story explaining the key takeaways
Advanced (150pts)Answer judges’ questions about the dashboard’s functionality and insights

Winner Selection

Teams with the highest total points at the end of 2 hours win. Dashboards will be judged based on:

Clarity & Readability – Is the data easy to understand?
Functionality & Interactivity – Are filters, charts, and KPIs well-implemented?
Data Insights & Storytelling – Does the dashboard provide meaningful takeaways?
Presentation & Communication – Is the explanation clear and impactful?
